Janette Simpson

Integrative counsellor

At Forward 2 Freedom, I offer a compassionate, person-centred approach to counselling.

As a qualified counsellor (CPCAB Level 4, 2021), I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to walk alongside you—gently supporting you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

I bring over seven years of experience working within a domestic abuse service. My work has included one-to-one support, group work, and psychoeducation, as well as supporting clients through safeguarding processes, sign posting and family court proceedings. I also have experience working with families affected by child-to-parent abuse and supporting children impacted by domestic abuse.

Alongside my counselling work, I volunteered within a charity counselling service and worked as an advocate for elderly and disabled individuals. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the unique challenges people face and strengthened my commitment to providing inclusive, empathetic, and empowering therapeutic support.

My approach is rooted in deep listening, empathy, and genuine connection. I offer both emotional therapeutic support and practical guidance, where appropriate, often helping clients gain new perspectives, leading to those powerful “lightbulb” moments that promote lasting change.

I offer both short-term and longer-term support tailored to your individual needs.
Sessions are on a one-to-one basis, online or via telephone. Group support and walk and talks are also available in selected areas.

Forward 2 Freedom is more than counselling—it’s about supporting you to reclaim your voice, rebuild your sense of self, and take meaningful steps towards a life that feels safer, stronger, and truly your own.

Healing is possible. Freedom is within reach. And you don’t have to walk this path alone.

Emma King

Meditation Circle Facilitator

Hello and welcome.

My professional journey began in the hairdressing industry, where I spent many years working closely with people from all walks of life. Over time, I realised that my role often extended far beyond hair — my chair became a place where people felt comfortable sharing their stories, challenges, and experiences. Through this work, I developed a natural ability for deep listening and creating a safe, supportive space for others.

After experiencing a period of ill health, I was guided toward meditation and personal reflection. This time of healing deepened my understanding of presence, mindfulness, and the importance of genuine human connection.

Throughout history, our ancestors gathered in circles to share wisdom, support one another, and be truly heard. Inspired by this tradition, I now hold space for circles where people can come together in a safe and compassionate environment. These gatherings offer an opportunity to pause, reflect, listen deeply, and reconnect — with ourselves and with each other.

My approach is grounded in empathy, presence, and respect for each person’s unique journey.
